As you probably already have seen or heard, I was able to travel to Venice, Italy for a day. Granted the overnight bus ride was not great, but being in Venice was totally worth it. We left Friday afternoon a bit after 4pm. We had a few more stops to pick up more people. The bus itself was a double decker bus. The seats up top were not very comfortable being as they were so close together and did not give much leg room. I couldn't even sit in my seat with my legs in front of me comfortable because my knees touched and pressed against the seat in front of me. I knew then that I would probably not get much, if any sleep that night. I also felt bad for the guys who were much taller and bigger then me, I can only imagine how uncomfortable they were. I also didn't go prepared with anything to do on the bus ride. I had my phone, but I didn't have it fully charged so I turned it off to save my battery for when I was in Venice. Once It got dark I tried to sleep. It was really hard because the air did not work very well. It was supper hot, then cooled off, but then supper hot again. There was one point I thought I was going to pass out because it was so hot. Thankfully right when that was happening, we stopped at a gas station for a short break. Despite the long and uncomfortable bus ride, we made it safely to Venice. We got in probably between 7:30am or 8am they next morning (Saturday). We then took the train to go into the city. When we got there I was just amazed and couldn't believe I was actually in Venice. I was SO tired but I was so happy because I was finally in my dream city!
The day went really well and I had a fantastic time. I had good food, and got a lot of postcards and some other small souvenirs for my family. I also was able to spend the day with three other girls from the States and we had a good time exploring the city together and doing fun stuff (the pictures will tell all!).
Now, you can look at all (well not all) the pictures I took of this beautiful place. Granted, they are all not in the order that I took them, I tried my best though. Also I added a few photos that the other girls I spent the day with took because I did not actually have them on my own camera (mostly the ones of just us).
The sun rising in Venice!
We went to the fish and vegetable/fruit market! It smelled horrid where all the fish were but it was so beautiful with all the colors of the fruits and vegetables!
Octopus.... Yuck!
There were MANY little shops and booths that sold masks! I kind of with I had gotten one, maybe next time!
Going on a Gondola ride! It was so much fun and an amazing experience that I will NEVER forget!
Tried something new for lunch! (I don't remember what its called...?)
Italian Gelato for dessert!
I was so sad to leave the beautiful city!
I hope you enjoyed the pictures and being able to see a little of what I was able to see and experience!
Thanks for reading,
Holly Anne
