Our Sunshine

I wrote this poem after someone I knew passed away. This was inspired by his family because I wanted to give them a description his personality from the very first time I met him to the very last day. This is not only for me but for his family as well.

Our Sunshine

“I love you, I love you”
He said as I first said hello
I looked at his eyes
With mine full of surprise
He smiled real big and then said again,
“I love you, I love you”

Jokes and jokes came from his mouth
Words and words made him unique
His laughter was loud
His spirit so bright
Again and again he said
“I love you, I love you”

Dress me up, dress me up he cried
Merry he was as we played
Shades went on
Scarf wrapped around
Gangster chain on to top it off
All who saw him smiled real big
“I love you, I love you”
He cried over and over again

“You are my sunshine, you are my sunshine”
He sang out loud and clear
“You make me happy when skies are grey”
His smile like no other
He made sure all knew
That he was happy,
Happy because he had them

“I want to walk, I want to walk”
He cried out loud
Tall he stood
Proud he looked
Step by step
He held his poise

When he saw her his world was never the same
Her smile made him smile
Her touch made him happy
Her words soothed his ears
Her loved captured his heart
She was his world
She was his light

He gave her his love
He gave her his heart
He gave her his soul
He gave her his life
A life together with nothing but love
“I love you, I love you”
He told her every single day

His marriage was beautiful
His family so good
His career so amazing
His compassion always shining

He loved his work
And devoted himself
All who knew him were proud
They were in awe of what he had accomplished

You are beautiful, you are beautiful
He announced one day
I called him handsome
His smile so big

When we joked around
He had a smirk on his face
He laughed in a way that no words could say

The last day I saw him
As I went to say goodbye
I told him I loved him
And how much he changed my life
“I love you, I love you”
Were the last words that I heard
